Last year, Sue B. Zimmerman (@theinstagramexpert) proposed this idea as a tip on her Instagram feed. The idea is to create a short introduction so that people visiting your page for the first time will have a pretty good idea of who you are, and why they should (or shouldn’t) follow you.
It’s still early enough in 2024 and I’m borrowing Sue’s idea. If we haven’t “met”, allow me to “introduce” myself. I’d like to share some tidbits about me + my business-and then you can decide if you want to follow me on Instagram :-)
Here’s the important bits to know:
1. I’m a creative professional
That’s the easy way of saying “I’m a graphic-designer-who-also-designs-greeting-cards.” The pandemic made me realize I can use my graphic design skills to create greeting cards. I focus on typography, which is a fancy word for letters and typefaces.
2. I like to laugh, and make others laugh
My greeting cards will tell you everything you know about me: I laugh all the time, I have a fairly irreverent sense of humour. I am not easily offended. Apparently people think I’m funny. The way I see it, life’s too short to take myself too seriously (specially at my age!).
3. I’m what people politely call “passionate.”
What that means is that I’m opinionated, I tend to get loud, I laugh a lot and I “tell it like it is.” Sometimes my opinions show up in my stories or the comments I make. I don’t take them back. If I post it, I mean it. I guess it’s not much of a secret that I’m not an introvert. Blame my heritage. I’m from Chile, and I drink white wine. Not red.
5. I’m a gardener
Almost 20 years ago I decided to rip out the lilacs in the front yard (I hate them, + I think I’m allergic). Next thing I knew, I was making flowerbeds and growing stuff. I’d fallen in love with gardening. You’ll often see my backyard in my posts, or some of the pretty flowers I grow.
In the summertime I can literally spend all day digging in the dirt.
4. I’m an animal lover and advocate
This follows up well directly with #3 above. Many times I share posts about animal welfare. I don’t mince words. And I believe animals deserve kindness and a good home. I have zero tolerance for people who hurt animals.
6. I’m a coffee snob and wine enthusiast
When I’m not drinking coffee, I’m drinking wine. And I don’t favour Tim Horton’s. My favourite drinks are best enjoyed in my beautiful backyard, with friends and family.
